Pentecostal History

Pentecostal history reveals the outpouring of the Holy Spirit beginning in the early part of 1901 in Topeka, Kansas, then on to Houston, Texas ; there from Azusa Street Mission, to Memphis, Tennessee and Jackson, Mississippi; a movement that originally was called the Apostolic Faith Movement, now later called the Pentecostal Movement.

Bishop J. L. Payne, Presiding Bishop and Chief Apostle in a special meeting in 1998 at its Annual Laborers' Meeting, an International Board of Bishops were organized to began to meet the call and need of the Churches of God in Christ, USA - International. An Executive Board and General Board of Bishop has been called into existence accordingly to the Twelve Apostles.

The great impetus of this movement touched the life of Bishop J. L. Payne under the ministry of the late Bishop A. B. McEwen. Bishop Payne received the baptism of the Holy Ghost as spoken of in the book of Acts and began spreading the Gospel across the Nation and the World.
After establishing seven churches, beginning from the islands of Hawaii to Memphis, Tennessee; In 1984, he and several ministers formed and organized the Christ International Churches in Jackson, Mississippi to serve the several churches established in Mississippi. After a few years it became an increasing demand to meet the needs of local churches and ministers worldwide- Thus the Churches of God in Christ, USA was born.

Structure

The Structure of the Church as the Body of Christ has only one Head, but it has many members. The one and only head of the Body of the Church is the Lord Jesus Christ.

OUR AIM  

To Know Christ and to make Him known ! COGIC, USA-Christ International Churches primary call and commission is to glorify Jesus Christ, our Savior, who alone gave His life upon the cross to redeem us from all sin and iniquity, and sent us forth with the "Word of Life " into all the world.

Body Ministry

There must be a body firm, with form and patterns in placed. The structure must be solid and from the Lord or it will not stand. COGIC, USA has come to this point, recognizing a strong united body of ministry with definite patterns and a very firm foundation. The hour has come the true membership of the church body must stand up and be counted. Why? There are many issues over night that can become very vital to your best interest and the church. We are a church with a great heritage and inheritance. There is a legacy in our church to us and our children�s children. The generation now and the generations to come will decide what will become of our labors or they will be lost in the confusion we may leave them. Bishop Eugene Allen stated upon his death�s bed last year, � the true ministry of Christ always passes a piton from one generation to another.� I must declare, �It never leaves the coming generation in darkness or without directions.� Brethrens, COGIC, USA , Are you aware that we have had (4) key Bishops and Pastors to die in the last (5) years.. They have sent a message to us. One, that we are more than a fellowship: Two, that we are 21st Century New Testament Church based on the Doctrines of the 1st Century Church. Three, that the positions for membership in COGIC, USA IS BASE in a relationships, not primary a fellowship, associate or causal coming together...WE ARE A MEMBERSHIP CHURCH !
